Celebrate Mother’s Day this year with a unique handmade card inspired by the freshness and vibrancy of spring. This card combines delicate 3D floral layers with sparkling embellishments to create a truly special greeting for someone you love.

How I Created This 3D Floral Design

Using a Sizzix die cutter, I carefully cut multiple layers of coordinating card colours to give the flowers depth and dimension. While this process can be a little fiddly—glue tends to find its way onto your fingertips!—the result is a stunning, layered floral effect that really makes the flowers pop.

A textured card base elevates the design even further, while a few carefully chosen coordinating gems add a touch of sparkle. The front of the card features a “Happy Mother’s Day” sentiment, raised using shimmer card and ribbon for a professional, polished finish.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Apologies it’s a little after Christmas to share this. I made this card for the lovely staff at the local model train shop https://www.greateasternmodels.co.uk . I used a photo of the store and marked out on card where I needed to stitch the design, it took a few attempts to get the sizing right for the card. Adding a photo, a stamped snowman and Merry Christmas message. Finally framing the design in silver and adding to dark blue card. They were really pleased with the card.

I recently treated myself to some special bamboo knitting needles, which have a stunning rose-colored, glistening bead at the end. They were impossible to resist when I spotted them in the charming Yarn Shop in Betws-y-coed, Wales.

I had a sort out and sent a large bag of unused stickers, shapes cut out of card and old card stock to our local children’s nursery for them to make things with. They are aged 2-4 years old and an ideal age to encourage to do some sticking and glueing shapes to make a design

I heard that they had great fun using these which was lovely to hear. Then I received a ‘Thank You’ card they made for me using some of the shapes (apparently they heard I like a glass of wine!) x

Sitting at my crafting table the sun started to break through the clouds. Then I noticed this reflection on my living room wall… the sun shining through my Neens Designs sign on the desk

I have been lucky enough to have been given some old cards to up-cycle from a friend.

These cards date back to the 1950s, which makes them vintage. See a selection of the cards in the photo below. As with all my up-cycled cards they are unique and therefor only 1 of each design.

I am also donating 10% from any up-cycled card sales to charity for 2023.

Customer ordered cards to be posted directly to her friends. She had added the wording to be put inside the card into the order notes at check out. I then printed the wording and inserted in the card before posting.
